Art Center Nabi, Seoul, South Korea

Leah Barclay completed an Asialink residency at Art Center Nabi in October to December 2009. As part of the residency she completed eight new works that fused Korean traditional music with the infinite possibilities of technology. She collaborated with the likes of master taegum artist Hyelim Kim and leading Korean percussionist Yoonsang Choi. Her works were performed at Alternative Space Loop and Art Center Nabi and as a result she has been invited to a range of festivals and events in the future. In addition to her creative work she engaged in a period of intensive percussion study with several master artists (including Master Moon at the school of Master Jin Yoo-Rim), facilitated workshops on her practice and had a two month open studio / exhibition at Art Center Nabi showcasing her recent works. Leah acknowledges Asialink, Arts Queensland and The Australia Council for the Arts in supporting this residency. The ‘Sori Art’ program (collaboration with Hyelim Kim) was supported by Alternative Space Loop and the Korean Arts Council. A CD/DVD of this program will be released in 2011.
