BREATH – Yoonsang Choi & Leah Barclay

BREATH – Yoonsang Choi & Leah Barclay

Leading Korean percussionist Yoonsang Choi and awarding winning Australian composer Leah Barclay will premiere their new work ‘Breath’ at Blossom Land on December 10th 2010 in Seoul, South Korea.

‘Breath’ is an electroacoustic theatre work for percussion and electronics that builds on the technology developed in their first successful collaboration “Juxtapose” premiered at Art Center Nabi in 2009.

‘Breath’ explores the elusive nature of Korean traditional rhythm and gestures of the body through innovative technology triggering multi-channel sound and live visuals. Both performers work intuitively together sculpting sound in an immersive environment designed for an intimate audience. Their first collaborations responded to the rich layers of the city of Seoul while this project explores deeper themes in interculturalism and intangible cultural heritage. ‘Breath’ fuses tradition and technology to provide a unique insight into Korean traditional culture.

This project has been supported by the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture.
